UP - The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement
Midweek Matters Education & Community Support Programme
UP (The Adult Cerebral Palsy Movement) received a grant to assist the operations of their successful community programme, Midweek Matters.
Through this programme, UP provides direct support each week to the adult Cerebral Palsy (CP) community, through their Midweek Matters virtual meetings, covering topics to help people with CP live a fuller life. Each month the organisation focuses on a different topic - topics have ranged from adaptive fashion to parenting with Cerebral Palsy to mental health.
Midweek Matters has proven important for connecting a socially isolated community. The organisation provides summaries of the information and resources discussed during each month and make them available on their website as a reference for the community, helping to make UP the most authoritative source of information for adults with CP.
In the last year, UP has run over 40 sessions and attracted over 600 live participants. The organisation also uploads videos of their speaker sessions that have attracted over 5,000 views on YouTube. The feedback has been extremely positive from both the community and the speakers and organisations UP collaborates with.
